Genesis 5 talks about the lineage or family line from Adam to Noah. After 130 years of life Adam and Eve had a son and named him Seth. Seth was made in the image of Adam. After Adam and Eve had Seth, Adam lived for 800 more years and had other sons and daughters. At the age of 930 Adam died. When Seth was 105 years old he became the father of Enosh, and Seth lived for 807 more years and had other sons and daughters. Enosh died at the age of 912. At the age of 90 Enosh became the father of Kenan, and Enosh lived and had other sons and daughters until he died at the age of 905. At age 70 Kenal became the father of Mahalalel and lived and had other sons and daughters until he died at age 910. At age 65 Mahalalel became the father of Jared, and had other sons and daughters until he died at age 895. At age 162 Jared became the father of Enoch and Jared lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters until he died at age 962. At age 65 Enoch became the father of Methuselah and Enoch walked with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters. Enoch lived 365 years, walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away. Enoch was the first man in the world to not experience death. When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he became the father of Lamech. Methuselah lived 782 years and had other sons and daughters until he died at age 969. When Lamech had lived 182 years, he had a son. He named him Noah and said, "He will comfort us in the labor and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the LORD has cursed. After Noah was born, Lamech lived 595 years and had other sons and daughters until he died at age 777. After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham and Japheth. So this is the genealogy of Adam to Noah. These were the people who lived before the flood that wiped out everyone except Noah and his family. God has a reason for putting family lines in the Bible, and these lines clear up how we can find someone's history.
